Job Overview:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Summer Event Coordinator Intern to join our team for the summer season. As an intern, you will gain hands-on experience in event planning, client coordination, and vendor management while working on exciting events. In addition to your hourly wage, you will earn a 5% commission on all event bookings you coordinate, providing you with a unique opportunity to earn based on your success and effort.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning, organizing, and executing events including meetings, art shows, parties, and other community events.
- Coordinate with clients to understand their event needs and preferences, offering support throughout the planning process.
- Build night programming for a cafe. Find hosts, curate special menus, coordinate plans with management.
- Help manage event logistics, including scheduling, timelines, and setup/breakdown coordination.
- Provide exceptional customer service by maintaining strong relationships with clients and vendors.
- Assist with the preparation of event materials, including contracts, invoices, and event day schedules.
- Track and report event progress to ensure that all elements are delivered on time and within budget.
- Attend events to ensure smooth execution and address any issues or last-minute requests.
- Work closely with the social media team to promote upcoming events and increase bookings.
- Generate and follow up on leads to secure new event bookings, aiming to increase commissions.
Requirements:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Hospitality, Event Planning, Marketing, or a related field.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple events simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and eager to learn.
- Creative problem-solver with a keen eye for detail.
- Proficient in Google Suite; knowledge of event management software is a plus.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, depending on event schedules.
- Previous experience or coursework in event planning or customer service is a plus, but not required.
