
Northern Michigan Advocate Internship
Equality Michigan is excited to announce that we are seeking an intern to help support our Advocates for Community Empowerment (ACE) team in Northern Michigan. This position will remain open until filled. This position will remain open until filled. Opportunities are available throughout the year. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis.
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Northern Michigan Internship is a 1 semester/ 1-year (preferred), unpaid position that reports to the Manager of Community Advocacy. This position will provide administrative support to the Rural Outreach Coordinator.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
● Continue updating and vetting U.P. specific community resources
● Sending mailing outreach to partner organizations and alike community organizations
● Finding and registering for outreach events in Northern Michigan (i.e. tabling events/PRIDE events)
● Help identify the Pride organizations in communities
● Set up bi-monthly meetings with partner organizations
● Work with the Communications Department to improve outreach through social media graphics
● Monitor emails and calls from community partners
QUALIFICATIONS:
● Well-organized, compassionate individual who is dedicated to providing person – centered support services;
● Commitment to justice and equality for all lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and HIV+ people;
● Commitment to building a diverse, multicultural organization;
● Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends (if needed) and;
● Proficient in Microsoft & Google Suite;
● Self-motivated, ability to work independently;
● Detail oriented.
COMPENSATION: Internships at Equality Michigan are unpaid at this time.
