Cloud Engineer

Join Our Customer Success Team as a Cloud Engineer (Remote or On-Site – U.S.)

NordicNeuroLab (NNL) is a leading supplier of hardware and software for functional MRI (fMRI) used by hospitals and research centers worldwide to diagnose neurological disorders and brain injuries. We have regional teams across the globe, with our headquarters in Bergen, Norway, and a strong presence in the U.S. with our US office in Milwaukee, WI. Our work environment is dynamic, collaborative, and grounded in a shared mission: making user friendly, plug and play, MRI accessories.

We’re now looking for an ambitious, self-driven Cloud Engineer to join our Customer Success team and help us manage and improve the healthcare IT environments of some of the most respected medical institutions in the US.

In this role, you’ll take ownership of the full lifecycle of customer cloud infrastructure—from planning and deployment to ongoing maintenance in AWS environments. You’ll also support a smaller number of on-premise installations at leading US hospitals and academic medical centers. Working alongside a distributed team across the U.S. and Europe, you’ll enjoy the flexibility of a mostly remote setup combined with the momentum of a globally connected organization.

In this role, you will be employed by NordicNeuroLab Inc, and work closely with NordicImagingLab, our software development division based in Norway.

About the role

This is a hybrid role combining remote cloud operations and on-site installation work. You will:

  • Manage the full lifecycle of AWS-based cloud infrastructure for our customers—deploying, securing, monitoring, and optimizing environments.
  • Occasional travel across the U.S. to perform on-site installations and site visits to leading hospitals and research centers.
  • Deliver remote and in-person user training and support.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across the U.S. and Europe in a mostly remote, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, execute, and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure for clinical customers.
  • Set up and maintain on-premise installations of NNL software in hospital environments.
  • Collaborate across engineering, QA, and regulatory teams to improve installation procedures and customer workflows.
  • Provide technical support and user training both remotely and on-site.
  • Contribute to internal knowledge bases and documentation.
  • Support account expansion through technical insight and a strong customer service mindset.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering (or similar) is preferred
  • 2–5 years of hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred); exceptional junior candidates may also be considered.
  • Working knowledge of IP networking, VPNs, and identity providers (e.g., Active Directory, Entra ID).
  • Basic scripting/automation skills (Python, Bash, or similar).
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical topics to non-technical users.
  • A self-starting, proactive attitude with the ability to work independently across time zones.
  • Willingness to travel within the U.S. Must provide a valid driver’s license and have access to a personal vehicle. Mileage reimbursement will be provided.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken); other languages like Spanish, French, or German are a plus.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check

Benefits

  • A vibrant international team and clear growth paths into senior roles
  • Work-from-home flexibility and travel reimbursement
  • Access to office space in Milwaukee, WI
  • 25 days of PTO per year
  • Health insurance and 401(k) with partial employer match
  • Total compensation $65,000-$100,000, including:
    • Base salary: $60,000-$80,000
    • Quarterly bonus: $5,000-$20,000 tied to company objectives such as onboarding speed, cost optimization, and account growth
