Finance and Accounting Director Intern

Commitment: Minimum 6 months, 5+ hours/week

Resilience, Inc. is a nonprofit dedicated to enhancing student mental health and emotional intelligence through our innovative Social Emotional Learning (SEL) platform. We provide tools to combat depression, suicide, school shootings, and disengagement by teaching emotional and social skills in K-12 schools across the U.S. Our mission: SEL in every school, everywhere.

Internship Overview:
We are looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Finance and Accounting Director Intern to support the financial operations of our growing nonprofit. This role is ideal for students passionate about nonprofit finance, social impact, and learning practical skills in budgeting, reporting, and financial planning.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in managing budgets, tracking expenditures, and forecasting financial needs
  • Support monthly and quarterly financial reporting and grant tracking
  • Analyze expense trends and identify opportunities for cost-efficiency
  • Help with donor reporting, grant proposals, and audit preparation
  • Maintain financial documentation in compliance with nonprofit regulations
  • Collaborate with project leads and attend weekly team meetings to provide financial insights
  • Contribute to financial strategy discussions and organizational planning

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets; experience with accounting software is a plus
  • Basic understanding of nonprofit finance and fund accounting preferred
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively in a remote team setting
  • Passion for mental health, education, and nonprofit work
