App Dev Project Manager

Job Summary:

Resilience, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to improving the mental health of students, as well as reducing mass shootings, suicide, and depression. Resilience, Inc also works to combat declining test scores, low student engagement, and a slew of other social issues. 

  

Our organization focuses on offering Social Emotional Learning tools to enable K-12 schools to teach emotional intelligence through five core topics; self-awareness, self-control, social awareness, relationship management, goal setting, and effective decision-making. Resilience, Inc. also provides tools for acquiring and maintaining inspiration, hope, and overall well-being.

Resilience offers unpaid internship programs that require at least a 4 month commitment with a minimum of 5 hours per week. There are flexible start and end dates with the option to continue after meeting the minimum requirement

Although this is an unpaid internship, there is the opportunity to earn school credit. Some educational institutions require prior approval before the start of an internship. It is the responsibility of the student to check with their institution to be sure they meet any requirements before they accept a position.

 

Responsibilities and Activities:

  • Project Updates in Striven: Regularly update the SELENA App project status in Striven, providing clear and concise updates, including relevant dates and information in the Notes section.
  • Weekly Team Meetings: Organize and lead weekly team meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and next steps. Set clear agendas, invite all relevant team members, and create recurring events on the Striven calendar for easy tracking.
  • Task Assignments and Deadlines: Review activities and deadlines with each team member during team meetings. Assign tasks with clear deadlines in Striven to ensure accountability and progress tracking.
  • One-to-One Meetings: Conduct one-to-one meetings with team members at least once a month. Use these meetings to address individual concerns, provide feedback, and maintain an up-to-date project plan in the project hub within Striven.
  • SELENA Curriculum Familiarity: Ensure all team members are familiar with the SELENA App's curriculum and goals. Develop project objectives that align with advancing the app's development and impact.
  • Proactive Support and Training: Proactively offer assistance to other departments when necessary. Consistently provide training opportunities to enhance staff members' skills and understanding of the project.
  • Communication and Reporting: Maintain regular communication with your direct supervisor, keeping them informed about project progress, challenges, and milestones. Encourage team members to adopt open communication practices as well.
  • HR Coordination: If additional staff is required for the project, coordinate with the HR department to initiate the hiring process. Keep the team informed of any updates related to the recruitment process.

Requirements:

  • Passion for Social Impact: A strong commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of refugees and displaced communities through technology-driven solutions.
  • Project Management Skills: Basic knowledge of project management principles, including task coordination, timeline management, and stakeholder communication.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to facilitate effective team collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
  • Adaptability: Ability to work in a dynamic and evolving environment, adjusting to changing priorities and requirements.
  • Empathy and Cultural Sensitivity: A deep sense of empathy and cultural awareness to understand the needs and challenges faced by refugees.
  • Technical Aptitude: Familiarity with mobile apps and software development is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Time Commitment: Willingness to dedicate a set number of hours per week to the internship, understanding that this is an unpaid opportunity.
