Research Assistant for Interdisciplinary Health Sciences

Job Description:
Graduate Research Assistants (GRAs) are selected for excellence in scholarship and potential as researchers. The GRA will be assigned to a faculty-led research project within the Department of Interdisciplinary Health Sciences and are expected to assist the faculty member with their research program.


GRA will provide qualitative and/or quantitative research assistance and project management support, likely to include assistance with literature reviews, data collection, data management, qualitative and quantitative data analysis, and dissemination of findings via conference presentation or manuscripts.


GRAs provide approximately 10 hours of work per week for a half-time assistantship or 20 hours of work per week for a full-time assistantship, over the course of a semester and under the supervision of a faculty member. The assistantship may be half- or full-time, pending faculty needs.


As part of their duties, GRAs are required to be available to meet with their assigned faculty member and/or the faculty mentor's research team, as directed and in accordance with the faculty mentor's schedule. Assigned work should be completed in a timely manner, as agreed upon with the faculty mentor. Please note, on-campus and/or off-campus work may be required.


Qualifications:
GRAs must be fully admitted and enrolled as a full-time student in the MS in Interdisciplinary Healthcare Systems Program at Oakland University for at least 8 credits for each semester of their appointment and maintain full-time status for the entire year in a graduate program. Preference will be given to applicants who submitted applications by the early admission deadline (Feb 15). Graduate course work and/or research must contribute directly to the satisfaction of Oakland's degree requirements. Graduate assistants must have and maintain good academic standing (3.0 grade point average).


Tuition:
Tuition will be compensated, 8 credit hours per semester for full-time or 4 credit hours per semester for half-time. Any additional credits and class fees, including books, will be the responsibility of the student.


Compensation:
Students will receive a paycheck (via direct deposit if desired) on the last business day of each month for the duration of the assistantship.
