Cooledtured allowed individual growth and the superiors were there to help but at the same time held me accountable and treated me like a true professional.

Graphic Designer

October 2024 - January 2025 • Arlington, TX

What I liked

I enjoyed the community I found within the web development team. Getting to function with like minded people means I'm leaving this position with friends I'll be keeping. As well as that, our team was constantly communicating, which meant we always had an open flow of conversation that was encouraged, which I greatly appreciated.

What I wish was different

I wish I had had more time to work with them!

Advice

I would advise that it is an unpaid position, and that you have to want or need it for other reasons than a paycheck to intern positively.

Data Research Analyst

October 2024 - January 2025 • Bensenville, IL

What I liked

I enjoyed seeing the business side of the statistics world. Having a real impact on the company was very fulfilling and I felt as though all of my ideas were heard and addressed.

What I wish was different

I wish that certain processes had been communicated more clearly to me. Certain things such as the town halls, and ways to miss a meeting were not properly taught to me or the other interns.

Advice

I would recommend that future interns make sure to read the external resources site thoroughly.

Web Development Intern

November 2023 - March 2024 • Austin, TX

What I liked

This was a great experience for an internship. My superiors were always friendly, communicative, and understanding of my college responsibilities. I learned so many new technologies and techniques working here that I wouldn't have otherwise.

What I wish was different

I would have liked to see more mentoring/help in finding a career. Maybe some help perfecting my resume or more guidance would have been appreciated.

Advice

You just have to be communicative. If you can't get an assignment done in time, speak up when there is still time. Other than that, ask for help but do your best first!

Data Research Analyst Intern

October 2024 - February 2025 • Los Angeles, CA

What I liked

I liked how I got to work with real data and had guidance from my supervisor that helped me think bigger. It was nice to also have a team of peers who would give me feedback on my work.

What I wish was different

The meeting times were in the middle of the afternoon for me since I am PST and the company is CST. I wish the meetings were earlier or later.

Advice

Go in with an open mind. I did not have any expectations for this position and ended up learning so much from it.

Web Developer Intern

October 2024 - March 2025 • Bloomingdale, IL

What I liked

I liked the environment and how friendly everyone was. All the interns are super nice and helpful. Management is kind and understanding. I was able to learn a lot web development skills and team skills because I was able to work on a real live website alongside a team.

What I wish was different

Being in this internship, I was able to strengthen my skills with communication, team collaboration, and some aspects in leadership. Though, a lot of skills related with the coding side was mostly being learned on your own. This can be a pro and a con. You develop independence, but at the same time you might struggle due to a lack of knowledge. You can always reach out to other interns for help, but I wish there was a specific mentor for this.

Advice

I would say to be open minded and do not be afraid to reach out if you need support. It is a remote environment, so it is easy to feel disconnected, but once you realize that everyone there is there to help you, the work gets a lot easier.

UI/UX Designer Intern

April - August 2024 • Bloomingdale, IL

What I liked

What I liked was the experience and knowledge I could gain. I could apply skills and communicate within a team to accomplish weekly tasks.

What I wish was different

I wish I could have made more designs more crisper then having to go for a basic look with no special effects.

Advice

If you like pop culture and like designing or have experience with art then this is a poison for you that will help you improve many skills.

Content Creator

March - July 2024 • Irvington, NJ

What I liked

In my role I would write articles on topics that I was passionate about and create promos in order to attract readers. Through my experience here I gained a better understanding of how to write to keep my audience engaged as well as how to attract an audience. As a game designer these skills will serve me well in creating games that players will get lost in.

What I wish was different

Everything was perfect.

Advice

Make you set out time to do your work. You will likely need more time than you actually think.

WebDev

July - October 2024 • Bensenville, IL

What I liked

This internship gave me a lot of hands-on experience. Nearly all of my work was directly used by the company and thus gave me valuable experience for real-world web development work. I appreciated the team-element as while a lot of the work was still individually guided, there was a good balance of cooperation and teamwork not just with other WebDev interns, but with other departments too, such as the designers.

What I wish was different

Advice

While there is a good amount of explanation over the work expected of you and the general approach, the programming itself was entirely self-guided. This is not a problem, just a note that you must be ready and willing to learn the proper languages yourself, and figure out how to properly write front-end WebDev code yourself. I found this a valuable way to gain experience.

Data Research Analyst Intern

August 2024 • Chicago, IL

What I liked

I loved that I was able to use and improve my critical thinking skills when it came to solving problems. A lot of data collection and coding needed to be figured out, usually independently, to solve problems and find answers to those problems, which really helped in my understanding of the entire data research process. Everyone on the team openly communicated with one another and they all responded in a relatively quick time frame to any questions I had. I had plenty of opportunities to share my progress and present important metrics and findings to the team and to the entire company in our town hall meetings.

What I wish was different

I mostly used python for a lot of my analysis, since it worked the best with a software we were using. I wish I had used more SQL and Tableau for some of my research.

Advice

Be prepared to solve a lot of your analysis problems independently. There is guidance, but a lot of it comes down to your own ability to handle analysis.

UI/UX Designer Intern

March - June 2024 • Long Island, NY

What I liked

I enjoyed the learning process. I was new to Figma and I had the opportunity to try things out and used company feedback to improve my work. I enjoyed meeting everyone and the community was inviting and kind.

What I wish was different

Although I prefer remote work, I wish I had the opportunity to do this internship in person. The team work was confusing at times because we all had different schedules.

Advice

One piece of advice I would share is to think try out new things and don't be afraid to ask for help!

Content Creator and Video Editor

September 2024 - April 2025 • Bloomingdale, IL

What I liked

I like that I have so much creative freedom on the videos you want to make and personalize them to enhance your audience through your edit techniques. The meetings are great every week and very helpful. You gain mentorship from your manager that will give you knowledge on what goes on as an entry-level video editor working on social media content for a company.

What I wish was different

It would be nice if they offer a paid position sometime in the future, but until then, I like the opportunity they give as a company, and I think it's a great start for people with no experience yet in whatever field they're studying in.

Advice

I would say work smart than hard. Majority of the time, as a video editor who is starting out, I would find a style and stick with it throughout your time with them. Also, if you're the type of person to do so, you can experiment different style edits whenever you get used to their schedule and your own routine. For voiceovers, I would not force anything that's out of your comfort zone, let that build-up overtime. When you find a range you're comfortable with doing your voiceovers, just keep going with it.

UI/UX Researcher Intern

January - April 2024 • San Jose, CA

What I liked

Cooledtured was a unique internship experience, as it felt much more personal than any other job. I loved being able to talk to someone, 1 on 1, and have a back and forth discussion about my weekly projects. It truly made me feel connected to the company and the people there.

UI/UX Designer Intern

April 2024 - January 2025 • Bensenville, IL

What I liked

What I liked most about the internship was its flexibility, the supportive and amazing management, the opportunity to meet incredible people, and the ability to learn and apply a lot of knowledge in my field.

What I wish was different

I wish there had been an easier way to communicate and collaborate with other departments. Since the internship was remote, it was inherently challenging to replicate the environment of face-to-face interactions. That said, the internship did an excellent job of providing a great experience, almost as if I were working in person.

Advice

The advice I would share is that you get out of the internship what you put into it. Take the time to connect with your coworkers, build meaningful professional relationships, and make the most of the experience.

UI/UX Designer Intern

July - September 2024 • Chicago, IL

What I liked

My favorite thing about Cooledtured was being able to work comfortably and openly about my UI design that I wanted to try and implement. It was a very open workspace to share different ideas, projects, and a great place to receive feedback. Another thing was that I was able to learn different tactics and/or things that companies, upper management, and what consumers might be looking for when doing my designs.

What I wish was different

I think the only thing I wish could have been different was just some way for better communication and some form of set deliverables. While being in the UI/UX internship, it was nice to have a sort of freedom on what we worked on as there was no apparent deadline for a certain page, it would have been nice to emphasize some certain deliverables or restrictions.

Advice

I would suggest taking advice from your peers when working on designs, and try to be creative and make your own idea.

Data Research Analyst Intern

May - August 2024 • Bensenville, IL

What I liked

This position grants you the freedom to research whatever you like as long as it's deemed useful to the organization. If you're looking to boost your portfolio with more projects, or are looking to try something new and learn, this position gives you the opportunity to manage the work you do to fit your needs.

What I wish was different

On occasion, especially if you feel stuck with a project you're working on, the lack of direction and clear objectives (outside of just generally bringing something useful to cooledtured) can make it difficult to complete larger projects that reach a dead-end, as you're unsure of exactly what the other teams in cooledtured need.

Advice

Research the company and look through their website before starting this position, as having a rough idea of what you believe could be impactful and useful for cooledtured before beginning any project gives you the advantage to start early and remain focused with your research, ensuring that all your work is useful.

E-Commerce Operations Specialist

September - December 2023 • Bensenville, IL

What I liked

My experience at Cooledtured is unbelievably valuable to me. I found the whole experience to be like a college course. I was able to learn new things, practice what I learned, and gain a complete understanding of my tasks. This opportunity introduced me to a wonderful mentor, Chloe. She gave me a lot of career and personal development advice. She and the whole organization always emphasized education is the most important and priority, and that the organization’s internship program’s main goal is to help prepare students to enter the work force. Cooledtured should not change their program’s goal. It is a wonderful organization that focuses on interns. I do not think I could have gotten such an internship experience that is so personal and tailored to me at another organization. This experience is unique to Cooledtured.
