Dayton Freight

Software Developer Intern

May - December 2021 • Dayton, OH

What I liked

The work environment was amazing. Everyone that I worked with was very friendly towards me and was happy and willing to help me out if I had any problems or questions. The flexibility was also very nice. They implemented a work from home option while I was working there and it made it very easy for me to talk to professors about upcoming classes or about the BPM program.

What I wish was different

I wish I would have worked with a little more object oriented programming. They just made an announcement saying that they were moving the company more towards Node and React so I just missed out.

Advice

Always ask questions if you are having trouble, everyone is always willing to help you out with any problem that you have. If you are looking for a great company to help start out your career, Dayton Freight is a great option for you.

Summer Intern

May - August 2019 • Lockport, IL

What I liked

I was already an employee when I received the internship offer and I am still an employee of Dayton Freight. I liked that I was able to see almost every position in the terminal and the roles each of them have in the operation of each day. It gave me a better appreciation of the work being done, and how every has a hand in the success of each day.

What I wish was different

This only occurred twice during my 9 weeks but for two days I was treated as the "intern."

Advice

DO IT! If you are interested in logistics, this will help you find were you would like to fit in or if logistics is not for you. The environment is truly fast paced and each day is unpredictable. If that fits the bill for you, GO FOR IT!
