Lots of autonomy and responsibility. Very supportive and accessible company.
What I wish was different

Advice
Don't be afraid to ask questions and get clarification. It's better to ask questions early on rather than let gaps in knowledge catch up to you later.

Manufacturing Engineering intern
May 2017 • Auburn Hills, MI
What I liked
The hands on experience helped me understand the automotive industry to the fullest. This helped me visualize my future career after I graduate. Some people choose a pathway and don’t know what to expect after they graduate, internships help students visualize their future realities.
What I wish was different
Sometimes you don’t get exposed to different parts of the industry. This sparks interests and keeps interns filled with questions about how certain processes work. In order to really know a company, you must understand the steps it takes to create a product or service.
Advice
Don’t settle for a certain position till you’ve experienced other parts of the field. Get a better understanding of all the positions offered in a specific field and choose what your heart desires.

Aquisitions Intern
February - July 2017 • Auburn Hills, MI
What I liked
I liked my mentor a lot, as he was easy to talk to and approachable for the most part
What I wish was different
I wish I had more to do. I wish more people took an active role in trying to train me. My manager in charge of me barely talked to me and pawned me off on my mentor. at no point was I ever evaluated to make sure I was learning stuff, or even being useful to the company.
Advice
Ask yourself if you are learning enough from this job to be able to go to a competitor and get hired to do something similar. for me, the answer was no.

Controlling Intern
May 2018 • Saline, MI
What I liked
I really liked how much SAP exposure I am getting everyday. Over time my work load has grown and they have placed more trust in me. I love my work environment and how much I am learning everyday.
What I wish was different
At first, I was really scared to ask questions and I wish I would have grown out of that quicker. When first starting, I wish the instructions of what was expected was more clear than they were.
Advice
Do not be afraid to ask questions. They don't except you to know much of the information or the processes they use. They want you to reach out to your peers and ask questions. Questions help you learn.

Quality and Warranty Intern
June 2020 • Auburn Hills, MI
What I liked
They're able to work around school schedules a lot. With COVID, they've been great at getting me set up to work from home.
What I wish was different
There's not a whole lot for me to do at the moment. I generally get small projects/tasks very sporadically. Very little work is regular aside from a few small monthly file updates. This may be because of the current situation, but I would have no way to tell.
Advice
Ask for something to work on, and you'll likely get something out of it.
