What I liked

It was on my time and I was paid per ad. With that being said, I could make however much I wanted to make.

What I wish was different

I wish that I would have gotten paid more the ad that took longer.

Advice

You have to rate at least five times a week. Each ad-rating day takes from 20 minutes to an hour. Just plan your days accordingly.

Software QA tester

April - August 2020 • Boise, ID

What I liked

Job was not particularly difficult, and could work from home

What I wish was different

Hours were 11-8PM, an earlier start would have been lovely

Advice

It's not just playing video games, you're actively testing them. Don't go in with the expectation of being a twitch streamer, you're going to be repeating the same level 100 times.

Floor Supervisor (Technician 2)

April - September 2019 • Corvallis, OR

What I liked

I gained experience working on an assembly line. Following my promotion my duties shifted from more labor based tasks to leadership and organization tasks. I enjoyed optimizing the speed and efficiency of the team.

What I wish was different

I quickly learned that working on an assemble line is monotonous and tiring. I appreciated the experience but do not intend to return.

Advice

I think it is humbling to work a laborious job. You understand just how lucky you are if you have access to higher education. I think it is an experience everyone should have.

Test Technician

June 2018 • Corvallis, OR

What I liked

Regular schedule, 40 hours a week, easy job, accomplished it’s intended purpose.

What I wish was different

Later start time (6 am is too early for a job of this nature). More mental stimilation and/or classes to improve employee skills would have been beneficial towards overall motivation.

Advice

Keep in mind that this is a first job and your status as a tech I is not permanent. Do not do this job unless you want to get into technology or work at HP permanently unless it’s a last resort option.
