It was an amazing educational experience. I got hands-on training and was able to work on actual manuscripts. The experience was exceptional and I learned a great deal about editing scientific manuscripts. I learned about the specifications of scientific and medical writing such as understanding patient sensitive language and learning to check brand-name technologies.
What I wish was different
I wish I had the opportunity to come in in-person once or twice, but overall I didn't have much of anything to complain about. It was perfect for me and was an excellent experience.
Advice
Practice and experience is crucial for editing work, so being able to work in the field you're interested in will give you a head start in learning the sorts of things you need to keep an eye out for and what specific terms are common in your field.

What I wish was different

Advice
No one knows you’re looking for an internship unless you ask. I reached out to about 30 PhDs and MDs with only 4 responses and landed my current position. I was either very lucky or in the right place, but I’m so glad I did it!
