Purchasing Intern

April 2022 • Troy, MI

What I liked

This company does an amazing job of giving first hand experience. They have an internship program that is very interactive making you feel very comfortable adapting to the work setting. Instead of giving interns boring old task like most would think and intern should be doing. They go out of their way to teach you real life applications in your role and by the end of the internship you are running tasks on your own giving real job experience making you as ready as possible in you role for when you graduate.

What I wish was different

There's not much more I could ask for. If I've ever felt needed more guidance I could ask almost any one and they would either give me direction or guide me to someone who can. I guess if I could change anything it would be to be full time but unfortunately I'm still in the process of completing my degree.

Advice

The best piece of advise I could give you is to grasp as much experience as possible if you had an internship over the summer and are offered to stay on part time during the school year take it. Most companies understand school comes first. If you interested in exploring another area in the line of work request to do so and get the most experience possible to become very well rounded getting you ready to graduate and stand out across all employers. One thing to leave you with never be afraid to ask questions!

Human Resources Intern

What I liked

What I wish was different

I wish this company would have had better communication between themselves and the third party service they use to hire/fire candidates for potential positions. This would have prevented me being fired due to their lack of communication and willingness to let new employees when and where they should be, far in advance to when they are supposed to report to work.

Quality Engineering Intern

May 2016 - August 2017 • New Boston, MI

What I liked

I was respected by coworkers and was given some significant responsibility on certain projects.

What I wish was different

There was too much down time and there was not always a set project or responsibility to occupy my time. I wish there had been more training.

Advice

Don't be afraid to ask questions. They don't expect you to learn everything. Make a list of acronyms because there will be a lot.
