The Savannah River Site (SRS) is a key U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) industrial complex responsible for environmental stewardship, environmental cleanup, waste management and disposition of nuclear materials. SRS processes and stores nuclear materials in support of national defense, and U.S. nuclear nonproliferation efforts.
In conjunction with Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL), the Site also develops and deploys technologies to improve the environment by treating solid, liquid, nuclear, and other hazardous wastes left from the Cold War. Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, LLC serves as management and operations of both SRS and SRNL.
