I wish I could have worked on a variety of different jobs instead of only a few all summer long.
Advice
Go in with a positive attitude and it will be a good job, but if you don't appreciate what you are working then you will be exhausted.

Transportation Engineer Intern
May - August 2021 • Belle Fourche, SD
What I liked
It was a super educational experience. People were super helpful and nice, and really allowed us to get hands on.
What I wish was different
Normally, interns are put on one project for the whole semester but I got switched around a lot. Would've been nice to have a consistant project so I could learn the process a bit more, but the overall impact of that was minimal. I still learned a lot.
Advice
Don't be afraid to ask questions and always do your best to communicate. It will pay off to let your engineers and technicians know what you are doing and they will be able to effectively communicate back to you.

Civil Engineering Intern
May - August 2019 • Yankton, SD
What I liked
My co-workers were great to work with. We still keep in touch and get together for drinks.
What I wish was different
Not having to commute an hour each way.
Advice
Don't be afraid to jump into task you are uncomfortable with. You will learn more and have a better experience if you get out of your comfort zone.
