The Walt Disney Company

Front Desk Cast Member

January - August 2019 • Lake Buena Vista, FL

What I liked

I loved the guest interaction from visitors all over the world. It was very special to be able to create magical moments for all ages. I also enjoyed the behind-the-scenes access that comes with being a Cast Member. Seeing in-depth ride operations, character dressing rooms, and being apart of such a caring team was definitely something I'll always remember.

What I wish was different

I wish I was able to stay longer to try for different job opportunities. Many friends that I had made while down in Florida ended up staying to continue their career path. I returned back to New York to finish my degree.

Advice

Go into it with an open mind. Working for such a prestigious company comes with so many challenges and will push you out of your comfort zone. It's one of the greatest experiences I believe one can have, and you will gain so many skills and wonderful memories.

Disney College Program

January - August 2019 • Orlando, FL

What I liked

The company was incredible to work for. I had great leadership that showed me the day to day operations of this huge company. I was taught many skills during my internship. I also made amazing relationships with people all over the world, whom I am still in contact with now. It truly was an incredible experience I would recommend to anyone.

What I wish was different

My role for the company was quick service food and beverage. I was put in the kitchen and, even though I had the greatest time, it really has nothing to do with what I want to do in the future.

Advice

If you choose this program, take advantage of everything Disney offers. You can move up fairly quick in the company.

Disney College Program

January - March 2020 • Lake Buena Vista, FL

What I liked

I absolutely loved every aspect there was to the Disney College Program. My role in the company for this program was a Photopass Photographer. It was definitely the most valuable work experience I have ever had, as I was working for one of the biggest and most applauded companies in the world. The hands on experience in not only photography, but guest service and communication was unreal. Definitely worth every minute of this Internship, and I hope to one day be back working for the Walt Disney Company again in my near future.

What I wish was different

Advice

The Disney College Program is definitely something you have to go into with an open mind. I felt like I was able to reach out of my comfort zone through this Internship and become more comfortable and confident in my abilities.

I loved the job, the team I worked with, and the company.

What I wish was different

I wish I had the opportunity to try different roles throughout my college program

Advice

Imagineering Project Management Intern

January - June 2019 • Orlando, FL

What I liked

The company is fantastic to work for. The people are amazing and you are inspired every single day. The pride everyone has to work at Disney is nearly tangible. It was exciting to get up every day and say, "I'm an Imagineer!"

What I wish was different

The work I did was not as technically challenging as what I've done in other roles. I felt like they didn't give their interns as much responsibility as other positions, BUT I still left with relevant work experience and stronger PM skills.

Advice

Finding an "in" is not easy. So many people apply to these positions that it's important to try and make a connection and not just send an application. I recommend using LinkedIn and connecting with current employees. Ask questions about what they do- People tend to be willing to talk about their jobs and then they may notice you or have a position in mind that you would be great for.
