What I liked
Working for the Disney company was a dream, and I had so many unique experiences that made me a more confident and marketable person. I’ll never forget the people I met, the experiences I had, and the things I learned. I participated in the Disney College Program, which I recommend to anyone who wants to learn about or climb the ladder of the company.
What I wish was different
The program is very demanding, and participants don’t have much — if any — control over their schedules. Also, the role that you are offered is the only role you can take in the company. I do wish I had more say in what role I would have liked.
Advice
Don’t take it for granted, but also don’t expect a semester-long vacation. The time flies and you have so much fun, but also the basis of the program is very hard work in sometimes unfavorable conditions. Go in with the expectation of an entry-level job with part- to full-time hours.

What I liked
The classes I was taking were taught by company executives in the field I want to someday be in and we were able to network with them after class. My job was so fun and I got to connect with students and guests from all over the world. I also got to go to Walt Disney World theme parks for free on my days off!
What I wish was different
I wish I had brought my car!
Advice
Network to the best of your ability!

Disney College Program
August 2018 - January 2019 • Orlando, FL
What I liked
I loved meeting other people from all over the country and even the world. This is a very unique experience, which makes it so much more fun! I was in merchandise and worked in the Magic Kingdom every day. This experience was easily one of the best decision I have probably ever made.
What I wish was different
Advice
You have to go in with an open mind. CPs are basically the lowest on the totem pole. You will probably work a lot of late nights and long hours, but you are also getting into the parks as much as you want for free. Have fun, make friends, and enjoy your experience while it lasts!

What I liked
The freedom and respect they gave me.
What I wish was different
Disney was more transparent with my role and responsibilities before I started the internship.
Advice
Working for a company as big as Disney as a intern isn't as amazing of an experience as you think, other smaller companies you will learn a lot more.

What I liked
The job involved lots of working directly with guests. There’s a great training process as well as very helpful people working with you while you figure it out.
What I wish was different
The application process took a while. It was about a month in between submitting my application and moving forward with the process.
Advice
Be ready to talk to a lot of people including very angry and disappointed people. Don’t take what they say too personally.

February - August 2019 • Lake Buena Vista, FL
What I liked
The cast was wonderful and working with different guests and different situations allowed me to expand my customer service skills. I made life-long friends while being able to explore the most magical place on earth for free, all day, everyday! Work didn't feel like a chore, and it was by far, the most amazing and eye-opening experience of my life.
What I wish was different
Leading up to the internship, I had very little information about what I was going to be doing, where I was going to live, and general details about the job I would have. I wish I could have known a bit more because I was getting anxious waiting for information!
Advice
You get what you put into this internship. Everyone is friendly so just go into it with an open mind and always say yes to hanging out with new people. It's great.

February - August 2018 • Orlando, FL
What I liked
I loved having guest interaction and my coordinators were great to work with.
What I wish was different
I wish that guests had been more kind. I know this isn't a very realistic request, but I feel that my employer did everything right as a company. I have no complaints against Disney and no suggestions really.
Advice
I would say that this experience helped me grow. You definitely have to be open to moving across the country, being away from home, and living with several people you have never met before. There can also be long hours, but the experience is definitely worth it.

What I liked
I really enjoyed the experience of learning about hospitality hands on with new guest every day. It was fun seeing all the families enjoying their time here and knowing that I had power to make their experience unique from others by making their time special.
What I wish was different
I wish I could have experienced various roles throughout the company instead of just staying as food and beverage at magic kingdom.
Advice
I recommend that people go out and try it! It’s just one semester and you get to learn so much hands on from the company. Do not be afraid to go out of your comfort zone.

April - August 2019 • Orlando, FL
What I liked
The connections I was able to make as well as the friendships that came about through the experience was incredible. I was able to work at a job that did not feel like a job and it instead, it was just a position in which my role was to make people happy.
What I wish was different
I wish there were more opportunities like this available for all students and maybe if it related to some majors as well such as the sciences.
Advice
Take a chance and apply and see what happens because I took a shot at it and now it was the best decision of my life
