Bank of America

Advisor Development Program Summer Analyst

June - August 2021 • Philadelphia, PA

What I liked

I liked learning about the various roles throughout Bank of America related to financial advising. I learned a lot throughout the summer, and all of the people I worked with were very willing to help me.

What I wish was different

The internship is made up of three sections; orientation, consumer investments, and wealth management. I wish the internship provided more time to dig into one area more in depth.

Advice

My advice would be to be engaged throughout the internship, go out of your way to ask questions, and make an effort to connect with new people.

Corporate Audit Intern

June - August 2021 • East Hartford, CT

What I liked

The people here welcomed me in with open arms. They were very helpful when it came to issues that I have came across and they have taught me well on how to perform specific tasks for them.

What I wish was different

It was all virtual so probably more person to person interactions.

Advice

Ask questions! Do not go alone in silence. They are there to help you.

Advisory Intern

May - August 2021 • Seattle, WA

What I liked

Good internship with lots of exposure to the bank and how it makes money

What I wish was different

Online was a challenge. Not many projets that you could speak to in another interview. Very broad overiew of financial markets, mostly focued on sales and building a client base.

Advice

Make you you understand that financial advising is 90% sales, 10% actual advising. If you are fine with that, then this internship is a good experience.

Global Risk Intern

June - August 2020 • New York City, NY

What I liked

I loved the structure of the program— first three weeks were enterprise learning. The following weeks were project/team based.

What I wish was different

I wish it could have been in person but I understand why it couldn't. Also, due to it being remote, we were not given material relative to bank projects.

Advice

Make sure to get to know your bosses/teammates! In a remote setting, it is easy to fall through the cracks, so introduce yourself and make friends.

ADP-Consumer Investments Intern

June - August 2020 • Hopewell, NJ

What I liked

I enjoyed working on the projects we were assigned because I worked with colleagues throughout the world in a remote environment. The first few weeks were focused on learning about the bank its 8 lines of business. During this time we had a refresher about many finance topics such as the markets, time value of money, etc. The remaining weeks are more focused on your specific division where you will meet your mentors and perform work directly related to the role. I enjoyed connecting with my mentors on a weekly basis. By the end of the internship I realized this specific role wasn't for me but I enjoyed my time at the bank

What I wish was different

Due to COVID-19 the internship was fully remote. I would have loved to been in person so that I could engage with colleagues face to face rather than virtual. Sometimes I found myself with a lot of downtime throughout the day.

Advice

Find ways to network with every one you possibly can. Learn as much as possible by asking as many questions as possible. Strive to get your SIE license by the end of the internship if possible or even before you start the internship. It will impress your managers. if you have your SIE license by the time you interview for a full time position, you receive a bonus and will be ahead of everyone else. Work hard and be yourself, People love authenticity
