I really liked being able to watch my managers do their jobs and learning about all of their responsibilities. I also liked learning about all of the economics that goes into the every day experience in retail.

What I wish was different

I do not wish anything had been different in my work environment, however I do wish I had been given some more morning shifts instead of night shifts.

Inventory Management Analyst

June - August 2017 • San Francisco, CA

What I liked

Great, progressive atmosphere in terms of formality and work/life balance. People were always willing to lend a helping hand- they know the company is a prospect and you may just be working there soon.

What I wish was different

Transportation is pretty straightforward, but can be quite lengthy depending on where you stay. Not much to change here, just a reality. Workload could have been increased, but internships often face an issue with this, so nothing new.

Advice

Most of the work is done in excel, so be prepared for screen time. Don't be afraid to network with everyone, it will only benefit you.

Intern

February - April 2017 • Niagara Falls, NY

What I liked

There is a lot of "coach to intern" touch bases and learning moments throughout the internship. Observing and learning from not only the general manager, but also the assistant managers and other leaders, really help shape and personalize the learning experience that better fits the understanding. Having conference calls with the other interns across the nation with guest speakers each week also makes this internship very special.

What I wish was different

I wish there was more hands-on time during the internship. A lot of the internship was reading and learning about the policies, but not much time was dedicated to really doing the role of a store leader until the final week - or until you receive an offer post-internship.

Advice

Always be taking notes and asking questions, especially during the conference calls! Guest speakers have so much wisdom and insight to the company from their own experiences, so do not hesitate to ask.

What I liked

All the employees and mangers were very friendly and eager to help you learn the job.

What I wish was different

They could cater more to summer jobs for college students. I wish they had just kept me doing the basics like dressing room and shipment.

Advice

I think everyone should work in customer service at least once in order to understand the job and learn to work well with people as well as put up with difficult customers.
